10 signs your pet needs to see the vet

Our pets are our fury babies and they need to be taken care of just as well. But since they don’t have a voice to let us know if something is wrong with them, most of the times we are left guessing. There are however, several signs that they need to see a vet as soon as possible. And we shouldn’t ignore these signs! If you are not sure how to tell if your pet is not feeling well, here are some things to look for!

1. They stop eating

An animal that stops eating can suffer of a wide variety of problems. Usually they will have other symptoms beside the lack of appetite as well. So, keep a close eye on your fury baby if they start eating less.

2. They sleep more than usual

A sick pet, being it a dog or a cat, will most likely sleep a lot more than usual. If you notice that your little fury baby starts sleeping most of the day, it might be a good idea to see if they need a trip to the vet.

3. They lose their hair

Dogs as well as cats tend to shed more in certain times of the year. But there are situations when they can shed without a good reason. This is a sign that you need to check them out and see if they suffer of a serious condition.

4. You notice a skin irritation

Skin rashes and irritations are a serious problem that shouldn’t be ignored. These can be a result of an allergy or even dehydration. If your pet has severe acne or it seems to have a lot of dandruff, you should look further into it.

5. They bark or meow in a different way

Even if pets can’t speak that doesn’t mean that they are not communicating at all. They just have a different language. So, if you notice that they make a different sound rather than their usual barking, you want to see if there is a serious health reason behind it.

6. They hide from you

Dogs as well as cats, don’t like to be seen when they are sick. It is more a matter of instinct. If your pet spends more time under the bed or in the closet, see if they have some sickness before assuming that they are just tired.

7. They refuse walks

All dogs love to go for walks. If your puppy doesn’t seem very excited when you are showing them the leash, they might have some sort of illness or discomfort. It is never natural for dogs to refuse walks in nature!

8. They are panting a lot

The way your pet is breathing is an essential sign of their condition. If they ae panting a lot, they might be too ho or they might be dehydrated. But it could also be a concerning medical issue behind it.

9. They need to go to the bathroom more

Urinary tract infections are common in both dogs and cats. And one of the first signs of such a problem is that they will need more potty walks than usual. Or they will have some accidents inside the house throughout the day.

10. They start vomiting several times a day

Even if vomiting is common when it comes to dogs and cats, too much of it can be a red flag. Pay attention to how often they vomit and make sure to give them plenty of water to keep them hydrated.
